background.
This type specimen explores Termina, a bold geometric sans-serif designed by Mattox Shuler for Fort Foundry. Termina is built for impact—making it ideal for headlines, branding, and high-visibility designs. Inspired by the strong, minimal aesthetics of mid-century modern typography, Termina strikes a balance between precision and personality.

This specimen was designed to showcase Termina’s range, highlighting its character sets, styles, special characters, and creative applications through a travel-inspired theme. Each spread pairs bold typographic experimentation with playful layouts and graphic elements, illustrating how Termina can communicate energy, movement, and clarity in a variety of contexts.

process.
I developed a travel-inspired theme, using dynamic layouts and graphic elements to evoke a sense of movement and exploration. Some spreads focused on functional demonstrations of the type family, showcasing alphabets, weights, and special characters in clear, systematic ways—while others embraced expressive applications, imagining Termina in advertisements, branding systems, and travel-inspired ephemera.

Together, these approaches transformed the specimen into more than just a catalog of letterforms. It became a storytelling piece, revealing how Termina’s geometric strength and bold personality can bring clarity, energy, and impact to a wide range of design contexts.
